The Petroleum Museum has received international acclaim as the largest museum of its kind in the nation, giving an overall picture of the petroleum industry. Aside from history and information about the petroleum industry, the Museum offers a wide variety of exhibits that focus on geology, industry art, and the world-famous Chaparral race cars. It is a 501(c)3 non-profit educational institution that was conceived, designed, and built to tell the intriguing story of oil – the area’s largest industry. Through education, technology, and community leadership, the Museum continues to serve the Permian Basin community as an ever evolving resource for the petroleum industry and honors the individuals that have helped create its rich history.
