The Permian Basin Petroleum Museum is enhancing cultural experiences through expanded educational opportunities, aiming to reach a broader audience. The construction of an independent building designated for education programs and activities will greatly improve our ability to offer more programs, create new events, and enhance learning for visitors of all ages.
This 8,000-square-foot building will house a larger education classroom, workspace for education staff, a “science” kitchen, and an outdoor interactive learning space. With this new building, the Museum will be able to double the number of programs offered while continuing to create a fun, inspiring atmosphere for students. It will also provide the opportunity to continue and increase collaborations with Permian Basin schools and work closely in partnership with educators to provide resources and workshops.
We would like to thank our major donors the Scharbauer Foundation, FMH Foundation, Mabee Foundation, Abell-Hanger Foundation, Wayne & JoAnn Moore Charitable Fund, Concho Resources, Inc., Pioneer Natural Resources, and many others who contributed to the $6 million capital campaign. These donors will serve as the basis for developing children’s love for science, providing an engaging community learning environment that will foster the next generation of STEM professionals.
